The first public meeting of the Castleconnell Community Trust (CCT) took place online on Tuesday 23rd February. The CCT has been set up as part of an action plan for Castleconnell and the surrounding areas developed with Ballyhoura Development. The purpose of the organisation is to promote greater levels of communication, collaboration and alignment between organisations and groups within the Parish, and facilitate the provision of services, infrastructure and needs that will serve the people, communities and businesses of Castleconnell parish.
The meeting contained updates on the recent launch of the Castleconnell Infopedia website, www.infopedia.ie , and the successful Story Competition that was held at the end of 2020.
The Active Social Group are launching a pilot scheme to promote the use of technology to help people stay connected during the pandemic.
Local Councillors updated on the Limerick Development Plan, due to return for public consultation between June and August.
The river Shannon is now open for catch and release salmon fishing to a limited number of permit holders, with day tickets are available at €25 per day.
The Castleconnell Business Association presented on opportunities to develop business activity in the area, and a number of initiatives are being reviewed, including a business directory, map of local businesses to promote awareness, and an events calendar.
The next meeting will take place on 16th March 2021 @ 8pm
