New initiative underway in Castleconnell to encourage local involvement and provide a shared vision for the future of the community.

In 2012, the village came together to represent County Limerick in the All Ireland Pride of Place competition. It was a huge success with Castleconnell achieving runner-up in its category. We are asking you to do it again.

Ballyhoura Development CLG has agreed to provide Castleconnell with a socio-economic facilitator to come and talk and listen to the community with the purpose of uniting our community groups and all who live and work here.

The result will be the development of a 5-10 year Community Plan which will look at employment, infrastructure, social activities, environmental awareness and the needs of both younger and older members of the parish. It will give shape and direction to our community, provide a shared vision, and create opportunities for agencies and public sector bodies to work together with us to impact the quality of life of people living and working in Castleconnell.

Participation and local ownership is essential. There will be three workshops over the course of the next three months and we encourage you to get involved. We want and need you to be part of all this!

The workshops will be held in the Parish Hall, Main Street, Castleconnell at 8pm on the dates shown below. Come along and have your say!

Thursday 27 September              Identification of priority areas & Distribution of survey

Thursday 25 October                   Presentation of feedback from first workshop / Presentation of survey results / Further development of priorities

Thursday 22 November              Presentation of draft plan / Identify structures to implement the plan
