DESCRIPTION:Ailbhe McDonagh & John O’ Connor\nTUESDAY 21ST OCTOBER @ 8PM\nAilbhe McDonagh is an internationally recognised cellist known for her work as both a soloist and chamber musician. As an accomplished chamber musician\, Ailbhe collaborates with the acclaimed pianist John O’Conor\, with her sister Orla McDonagh and with violinist Lynda O’Connor. She is a member of the Ficino Ensemble and the traditional Irish music crossover group Trio Elatha. In addition to her performance career\, Ailbhe is an established composer. Her debut orchestral work ’Irish Isles Suite’ was recorded and released by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra in 2023.  In 2021\, Ailbhe released ‘Beethoven: Complete Cello Sonatas’ with John O’Conor on the Steinway label. In 2024\, she released her new album\, ‘Bach: Complete Solo Cello Suites’ on the Steinway & Sons label. This is the first such recording by an Irish cellist. Ailbhe has been a member of the Strings Faculty at the Royal Irish Academy of Music since 2010. DESCRIPTION:Solas Quartet will perform for the November event of the Castleconnell Autumn Concert Series. \nViolinist Katherine Hunka enjoys a diverse and colourful career as a leader\, chamber musician\, director\, composer\, and teacher. Since 2002\, she has been leader of the Irish Chamber Orchestra\, a role which regularly sees her directing the group in a wide range of genres. She has directed tours in Germany\, China and Singapore\, as well as in Festivals closer to home including the West Cork Chamber Music Festival and Kilkenny Arts Festival. Her group\, the Far Flung Trio\, is currently touring. SUMMARY:CD Launch: Fiana Ní Chonaill ‘Something Old Something New’
DESCRIPTION:Something Old Something New’ is the second album by Irish harper composer Fiana Ní Chonaill who hails from Castleconnell\, Co. Limerick. This album is a culmination of a project that explores the blending of traditional music and new compositions\, presenting harp-specific repertoire\, slow airs\, jigs\, reels\, hornpipes\, as well as newly composed music inspired by her local area and life events. Contemporary Irish artist Meadhbh Ní Eidhin created individual artworks inspired by each of Fiana’s newly composed tunes\, adding an evocative visual dimension to the music. These original works will be on display as part of the performance.\n’Something Old Something New’ will officially be launched on the 13th of February at Kilmurry Arts & Heritage Centre\, Castletroy\, Co.Limerick at 7pm. This is a free event and all are welcome.

DESCRIPTION:You are invited to attend a talk at the ACM Community Centre\, Shannon House\, Castleconnell re Special Educational Technology for pupils with special educational needs e.g. Autism\, Dyslexia\, Dyspraxia.  The purpose of this presentation focuses upon exploring the various types of special educational technology which can be utilised for pupils who have special educational needs.\nThe presentation will first examine the concept of learning difficulties in general including a discussion about the types of difficulties experienced by those who have Dyslexia and Dyspraxia. The presentation will also explore the many types of technologies which exist within the field of special needs education and discusses how they can be used to support the needs of these children. Finally\, we will illustrate simple resources which can be created using one type of content free software.\nThe talk will be presented by John Phayer\, B.Sc.\, M.A. in Ed.
