New Jerseys Debut at Successful Basketball Blitz
Castleconnell, Ireland – March 4, 2024
The Ravens U10/11 basketball team celebrated the launch of their new team jerseys during a basketball blitz held at Castleconnell Community Hall on Sunday, March 2nd. The event featured friendly matches between the Castleconnell Ravens, St. Colms U10/11s, and Huskies U10s, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere.
The Ravens team, comprised of girls from Castleconnell National School (primarily 3rd class) and Lisnagry National School, showcased their new jerseys, which were designed by the team’s parents. The jerseys were generously sponsored by DMAC Building Group.
“Supporting the Ravens is a pleasure,” said John McCarthy, Director of DMAC Building Group and parent of player Naomi McCarthy. “Seeing the girls enjoy their sport and build teamwork is fantastic. We’re proud to be a part of their journey.”
The event highlighted the dedication of coaches Orla Foley and Diarmuid O’Rourke, who volunteer their time to train the team twice weekly. The team’s growth and success are also attributed to the strong support of the parents, who contributed significantly to the blitz’s success by decorating the venue, providing music, and organising a substantial amount of food.
“This team is truly something special. The way they work together, the incredible teamwork they display, and the raw talent they possess is just remarkable. It’s an absolute joy to coach them and watch them grow, not just as basketball players, but as a team.” Orla Foley, head coach and mother of player Marissa Boyle, explains.
The basketball blitz provided a fun and engaging experience for all participants, showcasing the growing talent and community spirit within the local basketball scene.
